Find a trusted tradesperson - for businesses

Find a trusted tradesperson tool

Receive job requests from customers and grow your business

Receive job requests straight to your inbox with our updated Find a Trusted Tradesperson tool!

The updated tool now allows consumers and specifiers to submit jobs directly to NICEIC-certified businesses in their area. You can receive leads in your inbox and click to find out more, accept or reject the enquiry, and contact the customer with a quote – all in one place, completely free of charge.

This is an exclusive benefit for NICEIC-certified businesses, supporting our mission to drive demand from prospective customers and help you grow your business.

But what is the Find a Trusted Tradesperson tool?

NICEIC’s Find a Trusted Tradesperson tool is a searchable register of certified businesses, which consumers and specifiers can use to find a trusted NICEIC tradesperson in their local area.

Previously, users could search the register using their postcode or the trading name of a specific business. Now, they can also choose to enter the precise details of their job, find local NICEIC-certified businesses with the correct certifications and qualifications for the job in hand, and submit their job request to their chosen businesses, completely free of charge.

How we’re helping you grow your business

To maximise the success of this new initiative, we’re also investing heavily in national marketing and PR campaigns to drive potential customers to the Find a Trusted Tradesperson tool and raise awareness of the benefits of using an NICEIC-certified business for safe and compliant electrical work.

If you’re looking to grow your business and take on new customers, there’s nothing for you to do. Job requests will be sent to your [QS or PDH], who can then reject or accept the leads as they come in. If you reject, the customer will receive an email alert stating that you are unavailable for the job. If you accept, your customer will receive an email stating that you have accepted the job – it’s then up to you to follow up with a quote and schedule the work in.

If you’re happy with the amount of work you already have, you are welcome to opt out at any time. You will still be listed in our register of certified businesses, but customers will not be able to contact you with new jobs. And, if you change your mind, you can simply opt back in!

At NICEIC, we’re all about developing solutions that work for your business.

To opt in or out, please contact the NICIEC Customer Experience team on 03330 156 625

Frequently asked questions about the updated Find a Trusted Tradesperson tool

Your business can now receive job requests straight to your inbox from both consumers and specifiers (e.g., local councils, housing associations, etc.)!

You’ll have full control over each request – you can click to find out more, accept the job and get in touch with the customer, or reject it if you have too much on.
There is no charge for NICEIC-certified businesses or your customers. This is an exclusive, free benefit that comes as part of your certification.
All certified businesses can opt in or out of receiving leads whenever they wish. You can opt out at any point by clicking the unsubscribe link in each alert email, or you can contact the NICIEC Customer Experience team on 03330 156 625 to opt out or opt back in.
We are working hard behind the scenes to promote the Find a Trusted Tradesperson tool. Through our national Don’t Do DIY campaign, we’re already connecting over 1,000 customers per day with an NICEIC-certified business.

However, we’re not able to guarantee your business will receive leads from the updated tool. Here are some of the factors that will determine this:
  • We can encourage customers to use the tool, but it is ultimately the users who will decide which businesses they wish to share their contact details.
  • The number of schemes your business is certified on will also play a role – more schemes will result in your business appearing in more searches.
  • Leads may also depend on your business’s geographical location.
To ensure your business receives leads as soon as they are sent, please do check that alert emails are not being blocked by your company’s spam filter. If they are, please whitelist the following email address so you don’t miss out: findatrader@team.niceic.com

We also recommend that you continue to promote your business using social media, your website, word of mouth and any other channels you habitually use. If you don’t already, do also encourage your customers to write reviews on platforms such as Google and Trustpilot. Consumer behaviour research shows that people will often follow up on business recommendations using review platforms, social media reviews and comments.
Your business will receive an email with details about the job requested, and an option to find out more. If you decide to find out more, you will receive all the information the potential customer has provided, including contact details such as their email address and phone number.
If you’re busy, or simply not interested in the enquiry, you can choose to decline the lead. This will send an automated email to the customer to notify them of your decision.
