Certification
NICEIC Certification will issue a Certificate of Competence to successful candidates and notify the Gas Safe Register of the successful completion of assessments.

Assessment Information:
Engineers who have the necessary pre-requisites to be admitted onto the ACS Scheme run by one of our approved centres to enable registration with Gas Safe.
 
These engineers are classified into 2 categories:
Category 1 – Experienced practicing gas fitting operative
Category 2 – Applicants will hold qualifications detailed in Guidance Note 8 and provide written evidence to the assessment centre confirming that they have undertaken work experience and training for the range of assessments to be undertaken.
 
That evidence shall include:
 
• a written statement from a registered business detailing precisely the type, range and volume of gas work carried out.
• a certificate of achievement or written statement from the training provider where the gas training has been carried out.
 
or
 
Are undertaking a vocational qualification which has a requirement of gas work to be included, and where ACS certification is an integral part of that qualification
 
or
 
Meet the requirements of guidance note 8a (Candidates with Gas work experience gained legally from sectors of Industry outside of the scope of the Gas Safety Installation & Use Regulations).
 
Please Note: Applicants that do not satisfy the criteria of Categories 1 or 2 shall be classified as a new entrant to the industry and considered as Category 3 applicants."
 
Successful completion of the Core Domestic Gas Safety – LPG or changeover qualification is a pre-requisite before gas engineers can undertake additional assessment on LPG fuelled installations and appliances.
 
Liquefied Petroleum Gas  core assessment has two parts
Generic Part A + Specific Part B (depending on the type of Dwelling)
LPG Core
Codes Description
CCLP1 Core Domestic LPG Safety
CCLP1 is a Core Gas Safety qualification and is required for any gas engineer wishing to work on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) installations.
Note: CCLP1 does not stand alone and should have a dwelling listed below with it

CCLP1 RPH Domestic LPG Residential Park Homes
CCLP1 LAV Domestic LPG Leisure Accommodation Vehicles
CCLP1 B Domestic LPG Boats
 
Changeover Domestic Natural Gas to LPG
CoNGLP1 is a “fuel changeover” assessment that allows gas engineers who currently hold (Natural Gas) qualification (e.g.  CCN1) to work on LPG installations. The assessment only covers the fuel characteristics that are different between LPG and Natural Gas.

Gas engineers working on LPG installations will need to hold relevant appliance qualifications.
 
Permanent Dwellings (PD) and Residential Park Homes (RPH);
 
Most appliances found in this type of property are the typical domestic appliances normally found under the following categories:
 
CENWAT1 Domestic Central Heating Boilers and Water Heaters
CKR1 Domestic Gas Cookers
DAH1 Domestic Air Heater
HTR1 Domestic Gas Heaters
LEI1 Leisure appliances
LAU1 Domestic Laundry
CPA1 Combustion Performance Analysis
WAT1 Domestic Instantaneous Water Heater
 
Where an existing engineer already holds ACS qualifications in these areas, they will be automatically eligible to work on these appliances irrespective of whether they are fuelled by natural gas or LPG.

There are a number of “sector specific” appliances that are used in these two areas which have different installation, commissioning and servicing criteria that reflect the types of situations and locations in which they are to be found, as per the list of assessments below:

Note: Training is a pre-requisite to all Initial Assessments only

GN8-Version-7.1
 
Core LPG Changeover and dwelling (CoNGLP1);
CCN1 or CESP1 or CMA1 or QCF or S/NVQ.
N.B. Candidates holding Non-Domestic Assessment only, e.g. COCN1, CCCN1 or CCLNG1, intending to work on LPF, are required to undertake and appropriate changeover assessment.
 
LPG sector Specific Appliances (HTRLP2, HTRLP3, REFLP2, WATLP2);
CCLP1 LAV or CONGLP1 LAV.

Initial Assessment: CCLP1 EP, PD, LAV or RPH

Re-Assessment
On expiry of certificate, candidates are eligible to take reassessment.
Previous certificates must be presented to the assessment centre as evidence of holding the initial qualification.
 
Re-Assessment can be taken up to 6 months prior to the expiry of assessments allowing learners to take advantage of the MOT style Certification.  Please refer to our Scheme Rules for more information on the requirements related to MOT style certification
