Becoming certificated with NICEIC is a great way to get recognition for your business. It can be as quick as 7 - 8 weeks if you meet all of the requirements and meet our assessment criteria.

In addition to having the appropriate qualifications you also need to meet the appropriate level of experience for the scheme. For our electrical schemes this is a minimum of two years’ responsibility for electrical work and you must be able to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise in the field.

You will also need to provide evidence of your insurance.

Does the business have a minimum of £2 million Public Liability Insurance and where appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance/Employers liability insurance?

Insurance must be appropriate to the risk, nature, scope and scale of work undertaken.

Assessment requirements depend on the work you undertake. All assessments require your business to show relevant paperwork such as:
  • appropriate insurance
  • complaints procedure
  • qualifications
  • training records for employees
  • access to completed works relevant to certification to demonstrate competence.
For further information on assessment requirements, see the relevant scheme guide to assessment.
The cost of joining NICEIC depends on the type of work your business undertakes, its needs and assessment requirements. Contractors pay an annual registration fee. Once you complete our online enquiry form, our team will be in touch to confirm the costs.

Scheme fees are also available in the Key Documents section of your chosen scheme.

NICEIC is a certification body that provides your business with recognition that it meets the highest standards in the electrical industry.
