The search for the UK’s brightest young electrical talent is heating up as SkillELECTRIC 2025 competition enters its exciting national qualifying heats phase.

NICEIC is a longstanding delivery partner of SkillELECTRIC, collaborating closely with the competition to equip participants with the skills necessary to excel in the competition. Organised by National Electrotechnical Training (NET), SkillELECTRIC spotlights and celebrates the best technical skills across the UK electrotechnical sector.

Following a rigorous entry stage, the top-scoring competitors will now showcase their abilities at one of the ten regional heats taking place across the UK throughout May and June. The heats involve practical challenges to test participants on real-world electrical installation tasks, demanding precision, safety, and technical expertise under pressure.

2025 National Qualifying Heat Schedule:

  • 09 May – College of West Anglia
  • 13 May – Burnley College
  • 20 May – SERC Downpatrick Campus, Northern Ireland

The best performers will go on to earn a place at the SkillELECTRIC UK Final, taking place in November 2025. Those who do well in the competition may also have the chance to represent the UK on the international stage at WorldSkills.

Alex Robinson, Head of Product Development at NICEIC and SkillELECTRIC 2025 Judge commented: “We’ve seen from the way that past SkillELECTRIC competitors have progressed in the industry, that this competition is a real launchpad.”

“It helps competitors build confidence in their own technical skills as they are tested in the toughest conditions. The national qualifier heats always throw up some very testing scenarios and it is fantastic to watch people rise to the challenge. I wish everyone taking part this year the very best of luck.”
