Electrical contractors across North Wales now have the opportunity to futureproof their businesses with 50% funded training in EV charging, solar PV, and battery storage

The initiative is led by the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) and delivered by NICEIC, the UK’s leading certification and training body for the electrical contracting industry. It’s designed to help businesses diversify their services, futureproof their workforce, and stay compliant with upcoming regulatory changes.
From October 2026, new Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) rules will require electricians and qualified supervisors (QSs) working on EV charging, solar PV, or battery storage installations to hold specific Level 3 qualifications. This training offer provides a cost-effective route to compliance while enabling businesses to expand their services and improve customer satisfaction.
Courses will be delivered during January and March 2026, at Vulcana Training in Wrexham. They will include:

We are delighted to deliver this programme in partnership with ECA through the Welsh Government’s Flexible Skills Programme, helping businesses stay competitive, compliant, and confident about taking on new opportunities in renewable technologies.”
Businesses must apply individually and complete their training by 31 March 2026. NICEIC will support applicants with pre-filled templates, MERIT self-assessment guidance, and coordination of training dates.

- Installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Points, Level 3 Award
