The accreditation marks another milestone in NICEIC’s ongoing efforts to support the growth and standards of the UK low-carbon technology sector.

The scheme redevelopment aims to simplify the certification process, focusing on the quality of installations, enhancing consumer protection and streamlining technical standards. The redeveloped MCS installer Scheme aims to boost customer confidence and increase the focus on the delivered quality of installations, while streamlining processes and simplifying requirements for installers.

This means that for now, there’s nothing for businesses certified on the existing scheme to do, simply continue to adhere to current scheme requirements until further notice.

At the same time, the certification body will be working to update its application process, with a view to welcoming new businesses seamlessly onto the redeveloped scheme.

Once the transition plan is finalised, NICEIC will be contacting existing MCS-certified businesses directly with more information, which will be designed to make the process as smooth and efficient as possible.

Paul Collins, Technical Director at NICEIC, commented: “The redeveloped MCS installer scheme will help to bring greater clarity, consistency and confidence both to certified businesses and consumers. Our UKAS accreditation reinforces NICEIC’s commitment to quality and ensures we continue to play a leading role in driving standards across the renewables sector.”

“MCS has worked in partnership with our certification bodies and the wider small-scale renewables industry to redevelop our installer Scheme, making certification simpler and more rewarding, but just as robust. Putting quality and consumer protection first, we are excited to roll out the redeveloped Scheme over the coming months, helping businesses and industry to build lasting confidence in home-grown energy.”

Certified businesses can expect further communication from NICEIC in the coming months outlining the transition timeline and what it means for their operations. In the meantime, installers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the changes by visiting mcscertified.com.
