Blended learning course on understanding periodic inspection, testing and certification.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
■ The legal responsibilities of an inspector
■ The reasons for electrical inspection
■ How to code electrical inspection items
■ Greater understanding of testing
■ How to complete certificates
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This qualification is designed for experienced personnel working in the electrical industry. The qualification is not intended for non-qualified electricians and/or those who do not have experience in inspecting, testing and certifying electrical installations.
Candidates without this experience should consider gaining the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification (2392-10) and obtain further industry experience.

THE COURSE PROGRAMME
■ Legal requirements
■ Safety requirements
■ Initial verification
■ Schedule of inspections
■ Dead testing
■ Earth electrode testing
■ Live testing
■ Verification of voltage drop
■ Certification
■ Course review (held at a local assessment centre)
■ Revision session (held at a local assessment centre)
Further to the training, a 2½ hour theory-based written exam must be taken in addition to a 3½ hour practical assessment. The theory exam must be taken at a time and date set externally by City & Guilds. Potentially this may mean that the two in-centre days are spread apart as they also include the practical assessment.
With the exception of the in-centre practical learning and assessment process, which will be held at a local training centre, the course material is held online so candidates can study at home or anywhere with internet access.
Blended learning helps a candidate to work through the material at their own pace. This course also saves time and money due to the fact less days are spent in the classroom. It is the perfect way for the busy tradesman to learn and achieve continued professional development in an ever-evolving industry.
BENEFITS
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a much better understanding of the inspection and testing process and could be considered suitable qualifying supervisors for an NICEIC registered contractor.
NEXT STEP
Gaining the 2391-10 qualification may lead to progression onto the 2391-20 qualification (Level 3 Certificate in Design, Erection and Verification of Electrical Installations).
